I came across this website awhile back and thought it was the greatest! Here is a small description about it:

Welcome to Operation NICE!

The other day I was waiting for an elevator in my building with one other gentleman. As the elevator arrived, I hesitated. I usually let others enter first, as a courtesy. But this gentleman held out his hand, motioning me to the door. As I walked through, he said with a chuckle, “You didn’t really think I was going to walk in here first, did you?” I responded, “Well, I don’t like to take anything for granted nowadays.”

That one minor gesture brightened my day! I started to think, “What a great world this would be if everyone had consideration for others.” It’s a shame that that’s not the case currently. It’s obvious that common courtesy is lacking in society today. Just drive down a major highway and you’ll see that.

What we all need is a little NICE.

Operation NICE encourages individuals to be proactively NICE. Stop by to read some positive, upbeat news stories (yes, they exist) about nice people. Download some tools (coming soon!) to help you in your quest to communicate the concept of niceness. Share a story or two about how someone made your day.

It is not true that nice guys finish last. Nice guys are winners before the game ever starts.

I love the fact that she is asking us to be proactive about being nice. We all get so involved in what is happening in our every day lives that sometimes we forget what is happening outside our world. And this website reminds us to remember do something nice for someone when they least expect it.

My NICE story is minor, but it created a big reaction. The other day, I was at the post office standing in a line that was not going anywhere and there was a women standing in front of me complaining that and all she needed was ONE stamp. I had a book of stamps on me, so I said, I have a stamp and I gave it to her. She started to reach into her purse to hand me .44¢ and I told her don’t worry about it (trust me,  I was not too concerned about one stamp) But what really struck me was the look of surprise on her face. It was kind of priceless really.

I love the details of this wedding. The vintage bottles holding the candles. The adorable shoes. The mix of ecletic and vintage details. What a sweet day.

The details: green bridesmaid dresses, plate setting from Martha Stewart Weddings, the cake and centerpiece from real weddings from the knot. More details from Joel and Alicia’s wedding taken by Shira Weinberger. More photos from real weddings on the knot.
